Last weekend I attended the Meadowlands music festival in Glynde, East Sussex (near Lewes). My role over the weekend was a camera operator providing coverage for the second stage, as well as assisting the the broadcast rigging processing such as laying cables, moving equipment, and that sort of thing. It doesn’t sound hugely exciting, I’m sure, but it was an excellent weekend and great fun. There were some great acts, some downright strange acts, and some acts that had crowds so rowdy that I feared for my life (and the lives of the poor people who were being tossed left and right by the crowd, narrowly missing being thrown head-first into the cameras and various items of stage equipment).
Overall the weekend was a great insight into professional outside broadcast as I’ve only ever been on OBs that I’ve been in some ways responsible for organising. I’m not too sure where the footage will end up, but if it is made available online I’ll post it here as there were certainly some great moments. In the mean time feel free to enjoy this highlights video created by the organisers of the event.
